Well, considering i almost forgot it was my birthday, i have to say i was considerably surprised with how awesome the weekend was. I spent most of Saturday shopping in town and finished the afternoon with a brand-spanking-new iPhone! You have no idea how obsessed i am with this thing - i spent an hour in bed before sleeping playing plants vs. zombies and the first thing i do when i sit down at the end of the school day is play with the crazy features. I'm still learning how to use it - but i definitely don't regret it as a purchase. One of the coolest things i have found (which Rob actually suggested i download) was Hipstamatic. It's an application which basically put an old-school camera on your iPhone, so that when you turn on the camera you can change 'old films', change 'lenses' and pick different 'flashes'. Considering my current obsession with old cameras, Rob thought i would love it - and he was definitely right! I've been snapping shots all day with it and fiddling around with the different lenses and flash options. I think the catch phrase suits it well; digital photography never looked so analog. But - whilst i love the look of old style photos, i love the real deal even more... that's where my most recent birthday presents come in!
Mum bought me the COOLEST old cameras (apparently found whilst digging around in an antique store near my sister's house). They're both Kodak - one even still has the instructions. 
I haven't had the time to look up exactly how old they are - that will be a task for the weekend i think. I'm giving myself this time tonight to write a blog whilst Home & Away is on, and it will finish soon so i don't have a lot of time, then it's back to planning. As well as these two fantastic cameras, i was completely spoiled by various other presents like cupcake note cards, socks, a pink, fluffy night gown which feels like i'm wearing a cloud, and some cute little frilly knickers and purple pyjamas. I was also gifted with some jewellery - silver and purple heart earrings and BEYOND beautiful dragonfly pendant which is adorned with marcasite. It will match the ring that my great grandma gave me, which LOTS of people have commented on. My mum always says that dragonflies remind her of grandpa - i can't exactly remember why, but now everytime i see them i not only think of grandpa but also my mum, so i have been wearing the pendant at school - a place where lately i have needed to gather up a lot of strength from within in order to keep on pushing through.
My grandma gave me a pocket size vegetarian cookbook- and although at first i thought 'oh great, another vegetarian cookbook' - once i flipped through the pages i was quite excited because it has some amazing (and simple) recipes; vegetable soup with pesto, sweet potato, mint, and feta patties, thai tofu cakes with chilli dip,
spanish caramel custard... is your mouth watering? I know mine is. From my sister i was given a 'Heaps Good' aussie hoodie from decibel - a nice addition to the winter hoodie collection (lord know i need them up here in the freezing cold at Meningie). From Michael i received a pair of lace up (and i mean RIGHT up) converse shoes - purple with a funky little pattern painted on the side by the artist himself, Mr. Noodles (aka my lovely boyfriend). Rob and Van gave me the sweeeetest little necklace - a silver heart which breaks apart and then magnets itself back together. I was absolutely and thoroughly spoiled - not to mention that i went out on Saturday with my friends and was purchased copious amounts of alcohol, and then taken out for lunch on Sunday with my fabulous family (though i think they could tell i'd had a big night...hehehe).All in all, a pretty amazing birthday! I think the best thing is just to not expect anything at all, and then everything tends to supersede your expectations. Well - this blog was really just me bragging about how awesome my birthday weekend was - but hopefully it puts a smile on your face. I'll end with a recommendation... everyone should get an iPhone.... they are truly awesome.
